Board approves gym-floor finishing, landscaping and tech maintenance contracts; tables $30,575 concrete-leveling proposal pending grant review

The Maple Heights Board of Education approved three vendor agreements and tabled a separate concrete-leveling contract after trustees requested additional information and a grant search. The board approved an agreement with Pumpa Refinishing and Remodeling to refinish gym floors districtwide in a combined amount of $20,454, and it approved a landscaping and grounds-maintenance agreement with Wonder Grow for $30,587.40 covering cleanup, mulch, pruning, fertilization and playground enhancements. Trustees also approved a one-year service-and-maintenance agreement with Crescent Digital LLC for technology at the Wiley Athletic Center for $11,109.98 covering preventive maintenance and remote support from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31. Separately, staff presented a proposal from Ohio Basement Authority to level exterior concrete across campuses using a foam-injection method; the initial service was listed at $30,575.40 with an included three-year service plan. Board members questioned the scope (the work covers external concrete leveling, not gym floors), asked whether staff had solicited other bids and whether grant funding might offset the cost. The motion on the Ohio Basement Authority proposal was tabled so staff could research grants and return with a recommendation. Superintendent Dela Flora said staff compared one other vendor and that the other quote was higher; she also described the three-year warranty built into the basement-authority proposal. Board member Miss Cheeks asked staff to report back if grant opportunities exist before trustees authorize the work. The board voted on each approved contract by roll call; the concrete-leveling item was tabled and not approved at this meeting.
