Commission approves preliminary plat for Deseret Peak High School, directs road dedications to proceed

The Planning Commission on July 23 approved a preliminary subdivision request from the Tooele County School District to plat the Deseret Peak High School parcel at 2244 North Barra Boulevard, a 52‑acre parcel, and to dedicate portions of 2400 North and Bridal Boulevard as public right‑of‑way.
Planning staff member Andrew Agard said the property is an existing parcel of record currently carrying two zoning districts (General Commercial on the east and RR‑5 on the west). The preliminary plat will create a recorded lot and formalize dedication of road segments that the school district is in the process of improving, Agard said.
Commissioner Anderson moved to approve the preliminary subdivision plan; Commissioner Hamilton seconded. The commission voted 7‑0 to approve the preliminary plat subject to the staff report conditions.
Why it matters: platting and right‑of‑way dedication formalize road ownership and allow the school district and city to complete public improvements needed for the site’s use as a high school.
