Norwalk Historical Society previews summer events, schedules beer-tasting fundraiser

Norwalk Historical Society representative Diane Jelrek told the Norwalk Historical Commission on July 23 that the society hosted multiple events this summer and has additional programs planned for the fall. "We had a busy last few weeks at, the Norwalk Historical Society," Diane Jelrek said. She described a successful Mill Hill Garden Party in June, the Independence Day bell-ringing with town officials and an author talk about Gettysburg in July. The society also announced two upcoming events. "It's going to be on Thursday, September 18 at 06:30, a night at the museum, with the band Cooked Up," Jelrek said, and she urged residents to attend the museum concert. She additionally reminded the commission that the society will hold a beer-tasting and barbecue fundraiser at 6 p.m. on July 31; online tickets were listed by Jelrek at $35, with a $45 door price. The report noted Mill Hill Historic Park is open Saturdays and Sundays through Aug. 24, and that museum buildings on the site will be open on those weekends. Jelrek also said weddings have been held at the museum gazebo and that the society will begin coordinating America 250 activities with the town, with an initial meeting scheduled for July 31.
