Council defers vote on Springbrook MFTE after packet errors; item rescheduled for Aug. 4

Lakewood City Council on July 21 voted to delay consideration of Resolution 2025‑12, which would conditionally approve an 8‑year multifamily tax exemption for a Springbrook Annex project, after council members and staff identified incorrect references and figures in the posted materials. Council member Brandstetter moved to continue the item to the August 4 regular meeting; Council member Bokey seconded and the motion passed.
Council and city attorneys noted the cover sheet and title listed ‘‘Springbrook’’ but portions of the discussion section and numeric tables appeared to have been copied from the Alliance project materials presented earlier in the packet. Specific inconsistencies included the wrong residential target area and parking figures. City staff told council the title and attachments should show Springbrook, but some discussion paragraphs reflected the Central Business District project instead. Interim city attorney Wachter advised that the cover sheet is descriptive but the legislation text itself controls; nonetheless staff recommended correcting the packet “in an abundance of caution.”
Council directed staff to correct the packet and return the item to the next regular session, August 4, and staff agreed to provide corrected materials and a brief overview at that meeting. No substantive action on the Springbrook MFTE occurred on July 21.
