The Pottawatomie County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Resolution 41-20-25, which sets the county’s percentage allocations for state property tax credits, including homestead, low-income, elderly and disabled credits. Becky Linehan, finance and tax officer, presented the resolution and explained the percentages had fallen slightly this year for agricultural land and family farm credits. “It looks like the percentages went down this year slightly,” Linehan said during the presentation. Nut graf: The resolution implements state-prescribed credit percentages that the assessor and treasurer use to calculate property tax liabilities and refunds; supervisors asked staff to verify that the state processed the figures back through the treasurer’s office. Supervisors asked staff how the county tracks the state’s allocations; staff explained the state returns calculations to the treasurer and the information appears in the county abstract for reconciliation. A roll-call vote was taken; Chairman Veil, Supervisor Wickman, Supervisor Miller, Supervisor Shay and Supervisor Jorgensen all voted aye and the resolution passed. Ending: Supervisors requested follow-up information on how many parcels fall into each credit category (ag land, family farm, homestead, disabled veteran) and asked the treasurer to confirm revenue effects before final reconciliation.
