The Alpharetta City Council unanimously approved the first renewal of a professional services agreement with the grant management firm O'Brien's. Lauren Shapiro, the city’s grants manager, told council the cooperative agreement funds software (Grama Network) and consultant staffing that the city uses to identify and apply for grants.
Shapiro said the agreement is a not-to-exceed $50,000 contract; the city spent about $14,000 in fiscal 2024 and roughly $8,500 in fiscal 2025 under the arrangement. She told council staff use the consultant selectively for high-value grant opportunities and to supplement the city’s outreach, writing and compliance capacity.
Council members praised the returns: Councilman Hypes noted an ARC TIP cost-share award of $4 million for Northpointe Parkway work had been obtained with consultant support. Mayor Pro Tem Merkel moved to approve the renewal; Councilman Mitchell seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
