Members of the City of Ocean Shores Planning Commission reviewed a map for parcels at 756 Ocean Shores Boulevard on July 22 and offered nonbinding feedback to the property owner and staff that the site is suitable for neighborhood-scale development under existing B-1 zoning.
Marshall, serving as community liaison, presented the map. Commissioners said the parcel’s B-1 zoning would permit uses such as multiunit housing (fourplex) or a small hotel and that either could be consistent with surrounding uses. Commissioners emphasized that parking adequacy and other site-specific requirements would be addressed during the formal permitting and building-review process.
The discussion was advisory only. The commission did not take a formal vote, make a recommendation to council, or set any development conditions. Commissioners suggested the owner consider housing-oriented options because the site “fits nicely” with neighborhood context; one commissioner noted a three-story cap in local rules would limit some proposals.
Next steps: The owner may proceed with a formal application and will be subject to the city’s permitting, parking and building-code review processes. The planning commission’s comments were offered as courtesy feedback rather than a formal endorsement.
