The planning and development committee on July 21 set a public hearing for Aug. 25 to consider an amended development plan that would permit a 10-by-10 covered porch attached to a single-family house at 124 Southpointe Drive.
Planning staff explained that the Southpointe subdivision is in PR-1 zoning and that any new covered porch requires an amendment to the development plan; staff said the city’s records do not include the original development plan, triggering the current process. Applicant Matthew York told the committee the porch would sit about 14.1 feet from the rear property line and that Arrington Engineering found no significant change to stormwater runoff with the proposed coverage.
Councilor Nelms moved to set the public hearing for Aug. 25 and to send the item out without a recommendation pending that hearing; Councilor Sims seconded. The committee approved the motion 3-0.
Action: Public hearing scheduled for Aug. 25; the committee will consider public input and the planning commission recommendation before making a final decision.
