Alpharetta joins North Fulton Comprehensive Transportation Plan; participation cost reduced from budget estimate

The Alpharetta City Council unanimously approved a memorandum of agreement for participation in the North Fulton Comprehensive Transportation Plan, a regional planning effort led by the Atlanta Regional Commission. Director of Transportation and Public Works Brett Cook told council staff originally budgeted $60,000 for participation but the actual invoice, based on population, is about $42,879.55.
"It is good that it's actually less," Cook said, noting the ARC will manage federal funding for the program; total federal funds available for the program are about $1.2 million with a match total of $247,500 among partners. Council members asked that the budget account showing $60,000 be adjusted so the unused amount is returned to the capital budget.
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Merkel moved to approve the MOA; Councilman Dorito seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Cook said Johns Creek will administratively work with participating cities to coordinate payments to the ARC and that the agreement has already been adopted by the other participating municipalities.
