Spokane County radio‑communications staff briefed the board July 22 on a required five‑year rent adjustment for a radio tower site at Phelps Field operated under a long‑term lease with the airport. The lease, originally signed in 2010 and renewed in 2015, contains a five‑year escalator formula; staff recommended amending the lease to apply the current contractual rate increase. Under the lease review presented, the per‑square‑foot rate would rise from about $1.56 to $1.92 per square foot for approximately 4,800 square feet of leased site, which staff said increases annual revenue by about $1,700. Funds are paid from the county’s 0.1% emergency‑communications sales tax. Staff recommended executing the amendment and continuing the five‑year adjustment cycle under the lease schedule.
