Council Smith, who presented the update, said the contractor disturbed more area than anticipated, requiring additional sodding, tree work and lowering of modified grama inlets after a significant May rain event. Smith said the project’s final invoice left the total about 9.85% over the original bid — and therefore under the committee’s 10% change-order threshold — and roughly 1.8% over the budgeted amount.
Smith also reported the city had received a $150,000 reimbursement from ADEM. During discussion, committee members and staff referenced differing line-item figures in the paperwork: at one point a change order amount of $16,818 was mentioned; later a figure of about $26,501 and “some cents” was put forward for approval. The committee approved the motion to accept the final change order as presented.
Motion and vote: Councilor Harden moved to approve agenda item O20225; Mr. Brandt seconded. The committee approved the change order 3-0.
Status: The contractor’s final invoice and change order were approved and the project will be removed from future committee agendas after the council’s formal action.
