The City of Elkhart Parks & Recreation Board on July 15 approved three separate contracts with GameTime to install outdoor fitness equipment at Island Park, McNaughton Park and Sterling Park.
A presenter for the contract proposals told the board the installations were kept under budget and that staff canvassed residents to determine desired features. Board members said they supported siting equipment in multiple neighborhoods rather than concentrating amenities in one area.
The board approved each contract by separate motions: one for Island Park, one for McNaughton Park and one for Sterling Park. Each motion passed with unanimous “aye” votes.
Board members asked whether the contracts needed separate approvals or could be handled as a block; the board proceeded with individual motions. One board member complimented the placement decisions, saying Island Park “is a really good place” for fitness equipment.
Staff said the vendor and department will proceed to schedule installations and that final placement reflects outreach to neighborhood users.
