The Elkhart Parks and Recreation Board unanimously approved a proposal to hire U LEAD (a youth-focused nonprofit training provider) to lead experiential trust, communication and teamwork activities at the department's annual staff retreat.
Superintendent Jamieson Czarnecki explained the training is scheduled for the department's retreat the following day and said the provider is based in Goshen and offers an activity-based curriculum with no PowerPoint presentation. "They promise no PowerPoints, and I think it'll be great for staff on, trust, communication, and teamwork," Czarnecki said.
Board members moved, seconded and recorded a unanimous vote in favor. The approval covers the training engagement only; no budget line item or specific contract amount was detailed on the public record during the meeting.
Czarnecki said the retreat will also include discussion of departmental goals, mission, vision and values and that the training complements that work. The decision was limited to approving the training vendor for the retreat; no further policy action was taken.
