Todd (city staff) summarized the proposal, saying the building is “on the corner of Chicago Road, South Chicago Road, and East Fitzsibbenz Road” and that the proposal was for “22 flush mounted solar panels … on the southwest facing downward pitch of the gabled roof.” Jason Weber, a designer with Arch Solar, identified himself for the record: “My name is Jason Weber and I work for Arch Solar, and I was the designer of that system.”
Commissioners asked technical and logistics questions. When asked about crew size, Weber said “3 probably,” and explained separate crews would handle roofing and licensed electrical work. Commissioners confirmed permits and inspections would be required before final approval. The motion, carried by roll call, included two conditions: that all relevant code requirements remain in effect and that the approval would expire in 12 months if no building permit is issued.
The commissions' vote recorded several “aye” responses and the chair closed the item with a short congratulation: “Okay. Good luck.”
The applicant will need to obtain the required building permits and pass inspections before installation can proceed. The commission’s action is a recommendation to issue permits under the city’s existing code and does not itself authorize work without those permits.
