County seeks right-of-way purchases for Dewest Road and SR 92 intersection improvement

Paulding County Department of Transportation staff asked commissioners to adopt a resolution to purchase real property needed for the Dewest Road at State Route 92 intersection improvement project.
Erica Parish presented the project, saying the intersection will be relocated about 680 feet south and approximately 2,150 linear feet of new alignment will be constructed. The redesigned intersection will include a traffic signal plus left- and right-turn lanes in both directions, Parish said.
Parish said preliminary engineering is substantially complete and the county is in the right‑of‑way acquisition phase. Twelve parcels overall are required for the project, she said, with roughly nine parcels still to be acquired. Parish cited an amended county ordinance (Ordinance 62-2, adopted Jan. 14, 2025) that governs the acquisition of rights of way and easements and said the proposed resolution (Resolution 2025-20) would help expedite purchases.
