IT committee recommends field-inspection and community-portal modules for Civic Systems software

Bill Patsy, chair of the village technology committee, reported on July 6 that the village uses Civic Systems software for accounts payable, cash receipting, licensing, building permits and code enforcement and that the village has spent about $99,000 on that system since its 2018 purchase. He said 2025 fees were about $13,000 and 2026 fees were expected to be near $8,000. The technology committee recommended phasing in two new modules first: a field-inspection module to support zoning permitting and mobile inspections with photo capability, and a mobile app so staff can capture field data. The committee also recommended a community portal that would allow residents to submit permit applications online. Patsy said the committee reviewed available modules with village staff and voted to advise the board to move forward with a phased implementation.
