The Village of McChesney Park Board of Trustees approved multiple ordinances on July 21, including a final-reading ordinance to reinstate the grocery tax, an ordinance increasing Class C liquor licenses and approving a Class C and Class G license for 7002 North Second Street, and a special-use permit for outdoor storage at 10505 Forest Hills Road.
Finance and HR Director Shannon Hanson presented the consent agenda, which included Ordinance 22-25 "to reinstate the grocery tax as of 01/01/2026," Ordinance 23-25 (increase and issue liquor licenses at 7002 N. Second St.) and Ordinance 24-25 (special-use permit for outdoor storage at 10505 Forest Hills Road). The consent agenda was approved by roll call, with Trustee Sipes, Trustee Stromberg, Trustee Roe, Trustee Wilson, Trustee Bailey and Mayor Steve Johnson voting aye and one trustee absent; the clerk recorded the consent items as accepted as presented.
Trustees later moved to waive the rules to bring Ordinance 23-25 back for second reading; the motion passed by roll call (Sipes, Stromberg, Roe, Wilson, Bailey and Mayor Johnson voting aye, one absent). The board then approved Ordinance 23-25 on second reading by roll call. Trustees also voted to waive the rules to bring Ordinance 24-25 back for second reading, and approved final reading for that ordinance by roll call vote.
The transcript shows standard roll-call approval for these ordinances; no substantive debate or amendments were recorded on the floor during the meeting. The board did not request additional public hearings or extend deliberation on these items at that session.
The measures will be recorded in the village ordinance codification and, where applicable, take effect according to the dates specified in the ordinances (the grocery tax reinstatement was presented for final reading to take effect Jan. 1, 2026).
