Central Police report for June: 253 calls (excluding stops/checks), 76 crashes, 5 overdoses

A representative of the Central Police Department presented the department’s June activity report at the City of Central council meeting on July 22, reporting 253 total calls (not including traffic stops and business checks), 125 traffic stops, 80 citations issued, 76 vehicle crashes (16 in parking lots), seven hit-and-runs, one vehicle theft, and five overdoses.
The presenter read additional monthly counts that included 313 business checks and numerous public-assist calls. On the DWI count, the presenter said, “This is showing 0 DWIs. I’m wondering if this is correct. I’m a double check that number,” and said they would verify that figure.
Why it matters: the monthly activity numbers give council members and residents information on public-safety workload and trends, including crashes, overdoses and enforcement activity.
The report also listed 61 public-assist calls (including assisting other agencies and welfare checks), 13 suspicious incidents (persons and vehicles), eight reports of damage to property, five disturbance calls, seven hit-and-runs, and one arrest on an affidavit warrant for another agency. The presenter noted the 253-call total excludes traffic stops and business checks; when those categories are included the department also logged the 125 stops and 80 tickets referenced above.
No policy action was taken on the report; the presenter invited questions and said the department would follow up to confirm the DWI figure and other counts if needed.
