Elizabeth Olchese appeared before the trustees July 21 seeking appointment to the Arts Commission and a role supporting Platts concert programming. Olchese told trustees she has worked as an executive assistant for more than 30 years, currently works in telecom and volunteers to help people with disabilities and limited resources. She said friend Wendy Schmidt recommended she apply; she described helping with transportation for people with mobility impairment to music events as a motivating activity.
Trustees who had already met Olchese spoke in support and noted openings on the Arts Commission and on the Platts concert volunteer roster. Trustee Palafis and others said they would confirm whether Arts Commission seats were open; the mayor said if openings exist he would appoint candidates at the board meeting on Aug. 4. Trustee Arnott and other trustees thanked Olchese for volunteering.
