Elections office outlines voter-roll purge process and Marietta redistricting notices

State purge and notices: The elections office said the state provided a purge list of approximately 37,000 voters who appeared inactive; the office mailed confirmation notices on July 10 as required. Staff reported fewer than 200 pieces of returned mail from that mailing and have so far received no affirmative replies indicating continued registration from recipients; the office will continue to review returned mail and coordinate with the Secretary of State liaison on any time-sensitive exceptions.
Process and NCOA: Staff explained that ePulse poll-pad numbers do not include ABM or provisional mailings, which can account for small reconciliation differences. The office uses Jarvis and other internal logs to reconcile applications. The board asked whether the office cross-references NCOA (National Change of Address) data; staff said the state provides an NCOA list as one input to the purge process and that they record return mail status in Jarvis.
Marietta redistricting: A separate item concerned City of Marietta ward updates. Staff said geocoding identified about 9,000 voters needing address updates and an estimated 4,400 voters within the city to be notified. Under the office’s contract with cities, Marietta will be responsible for郵题covering postage costs for statutorily required notices because the city administered the redistricting. Staff said they will coordinate with the Marietta city clerk on final counts and the cost allocation.
Staff emphasized that counties maintain external logs and offline records to reconcile Jarvis anomalies and that they will escalate any disputed purge cases to the Secretary of State liaison for resolution.
