Director Fall updated the board on election-day totals, staffing and budget planning and asked the board to authorize counsel and a board member to join a forthcoming meeting with the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA).
Turnout and reconciliation: Fall reported 10,190 total ballots for the recent runoff (7,633 Election Day; 2,413 advanced in-person; 116 ABM; 28 provisionals counted). Small discrepancies between internal ePulse check-ins and Jarvis were reconciled with Jarvis credit reports; one election-day canceled check-in and one supplemental advanced-voting record explained the one-off differences.
Staffing and vacancies: Fall said the office has several open positions—two voter-registration roles (one full-time, one part-time) and multiple prep/equipment coordinator openings—with a target to fill by Sept. 15 for November preparation. She reported comparatively low turnover and that the office planned to reallocate some funds from temporary agencies to software and internal systems.
Budget and procurement: Fall said the Board of Commissioners would vote on part of the county’s biennial budget this week; the elections office would start its FY27–28 budget work with division managers after the BOC action.
DOAA meeting and counsel: The Georgia DOAA requested a meeting this week to discuss voter-registration processes. Several counties have planned to bring counsel; Fall asked whether the board wanted Daniel White to join and whether a board member should attend. Board members agreed that counsel and at least one board member (Debbie Fisher volunteered) should attend.
Fall also raised an item from the DOAA report — the use of CASS/CAS (address standardization) — and asked staff to check with Jarvis and ITS about costs and implementation options. That system standardizes addresses to USPS formats and would likely reduce mail-delivery errors for notices and ballots.
No board action beyond consensus on attendance and follow-up was required at the meeting.
