Village committee approves contract with IO Solutions for police sergeant promotional testing

The village police chief told the committee July 21 that the Fire and Police Commission's rules require testing to establish an eligibility list and that the current list expires Jan. 4. The chief said the village received two quotes; Standard & Associates submitted the lower price but the chief said that company historically omits assessor fees, travel, meals, mileage and similar expenses. "So we're comfortable going with IO Solutions. We've used them in the past," the chief said, noting IO Solutions administered the department's most recent tests in 2023.
Committee members asked how many applicants staff expected; the chief said the budget assumes 15 applicants but that the number varies and the department typically sees about 11. Trustees also confirmed that sergeant is the highest rank for which testing is used; higher ranks are by appointment.
The committee approved the contract by voice vote.
