Wetumpka council approves liquor license and multiple downtown and park events

During its July 21, 2025, meeting, the Wetumpka City Council held a public hearing and approved a restaurant retail liquor license for King's 78 Inc. (doing business as Hill Boss/BBA Breakfast and Taco) at a location on U.S. Highway 231. The council also approved permits for several community events: the Coosa River Challenge mountain-bike event at Gold Star Park on Oct. 4; Main Street’s Oktoberfest downtown in September; and a book fair with live acoustic music in a conference room on Sept. 20.
The liquor-license item included a public hearing; an applicant spoke in favor and no one spoke in opposition, and the council closed the hearing before voting to approve the license. For the event permits, staff described the applicants as established community groups: River Region Mountain Bike Alliance (event organizer) and Main Street for Oktoberfest. Council members moved and seconded the items and approved them by voice vote.
