Commissioners approve RFP to hire bond counsel for potential bond renewal

Boone County commissioners voted July 21 to release a request for proposals (RFP) seeking bond counsel should the county decide to renew highway bonds first issued in 2020, a staff presenter said.
Staff explained the county used a series of bonds in 2020 to fund proactive infrastructure projects and that renewing a particular bond would require bond counsel. The presenter said renewing the bond will be discussed in budget meetings and that the county plans an executive session with commissioners and the council to review RFP responses because the commission will approve any resulting contract and the council will sign it.
The board approved issuing the RFP by motion and voice vote; an executive session was described as planned to evaluate proposals when responses are received.
