The Planning Commission announced a special meeting to receive public comment on a proposed solar ordinance. Kylene Swackhammer said the meeting will be held Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Justice Center (3100 South Tillotson); doors will open at 5:15 p.m. and residents who wish to speak must sign up before 6 p.m.

Swackhammer said more information about the meeting and the ordinance is available on the planning office website. The meeting is intended to gather community input before the commission finalizes recommendations to the council or other governing bodies.

No formal action was taken by the council on the ordinance at this meeting; the Planning Commission is managing the public engagement process and sign-up procedure for speakers.
