Fire chief: board approves amendment to consolidate mobile software platform

The Greenwood Board of Public Works and Safety approved an amendment on July 21 to the fire department’s software agreement to consolidate mobile platforms into a single suite, Fire Chief George told the board.
Chief George said the amendment with Vocawi Media Corporation and Businesses First 2 will unify the department’s mobile software so the systems "speak to themselves." He said the contract is the same but now priced and prorated differently and that "moving after August 1, we'll get this about $2,500 more for equipment." The board approved the amendment after staff explained training and equipment timing.
Chief George told the board the department was not ready to begin on Aug. 1 and that additional training would be required. The board moved and approved the amendment; no public objections were reported.
Staff did not provide a line‑item budget amendment at the meeting; the chief said the change involves prorated charges and an equipment cost estimate tied to the amended start date.
