Lieutenant Dan Longshine of the Cheyenne Police Department said the service would revitalize the UPS that runs servers and the 9-1-1 center and would prevent brief power lapses that could force system reboots and disrupt emergency communications. “This will ensure that there is no loss of service, even in that brief amount of time with our 9-1-1 services,” Longshine said.
The committee moved to approve the purchase; the motion passed and the item was recommended to the City Council. Funding cited in the agenda included the 2012 specific-purpose option tax fund and one-time state distribution funds.
