The Cheyenne Public Services Committee on Thursday adopted a resolution certifying compliance with Wyoming Statute 15-1-402 to initiate city-initiated annexation proceedings for 11 parcels in East Cheyenne (county pocket annexation number 7). The area is generally located south of Del Range Boulevard, west of Dry Creek, east of North College Drive and north of Cheyenne Street.
Charles Bloom, plan development director, told the committee an outreach meeting had been held at Baggs Elementary School and that residents attended with questions about open burning and solid-waste collection. Bloom said the fire department addressed burning questions, and Fire Chief Andrew confirmed at the committee that he had spoken with at least one resident, Rocky Meyer, and that the department had settled on an internal process to assist residents with burn and waste questions.
Bloom said the annexation meets the statutory findings for city-initiated annexation: logical expansion of the city, ability to be served by city utilities, and being surrounded by city limits. Staff recommended approval of the resolution to initiate the annexation and the committee adopted it; the committee will forward the resolution to the full City Council for formal action.
No further public comment was offered at the committee meeting. Bloom said staff would continue outreach and that planner Connor White would follow up on any additional resident contacts when he returned from leave.
