Staff presented a proposal from a Girl Scout seeking to build a pollinator wall—vertical installations with tubes that provide habitat for solitary bees, moths and other pollinators—near the community garden and the Girl Scout room in Norworth Park. Staff raised concerns about long-term maintenance and nuisance risks. The scout’s troop offered to handle both routine and long-term maintenance and to raise funds for materials; staff agreed to document maintenance responsibilities in writing and said the borough could remove the installation if maintenance lapses.
Council approved the installation 7–0 and noted potential to expand with a pollinator garden of perennial plantings if the wall proves successful. Staff said the borough would either provide installation labor via public works or the scout could cover materials and labor; the troop will coordinate a maintenance schedule and a written agreement with the borough.
