The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved July 22 the purchase of office furniture and carpet for the Human Resources office at a total cost of $38,357.
Melissa Thomas, Human Resources Director, said the purchase covers desks, cubicles, file cabinets and shelving and was a follow-up to a capital improvement project request she made earlier in the year. A staff member recommended using Fiscal Year 2024 unspent CIP funds; a county staff speaker said $90,805 remained available in unspent FY24 CIP funds and recommended reallocating the funds for courthouse purposes without additional public hearings. A motion to authorize the purchase and fund it from the FY24 CIP passed unanimously, 5–0.
Board members noted much of the courthouse furniture dated to used furnishings purchased years earlier and that replacing worn furniture had been a long‑standing need. The purchase was approved without further amendment.
