Garcia told council the road concept, as presented, would not properly meter traffic, could divert traffic to other intersections, and would create safety risks for pedestrians, elderly residents, children and disabled people near schools, a park, the library and a senior center. He also said the city previously paid more than $865,000 related to roundabout impacts and that the engineering firm Wolpert had indicated concept drawings were not to scale and would need to be larger to accommodate trucks.
Garcia urged the city to reconsider, argued that the Gateway North Ridgeville project had excluded public comment, and said truck routing and oversized loads were not adequately addressed. He requested the council take resident input into account; no formal action was recorded during the meeting on the roundabout concept.
