City engineer outlines concrete replacement, resurfacing and stormwater projects

City engineering reported July 21 that the list of streets for the 2025 full‑depth concrete replacement project has been finalized. Streets identified for full‑depth concrete replacement include Oak Street, Glenwood Court, Gatestone Road, Browning Drive, Debbie Drive, Firecrest Circle, Main Avenue, Harris Drive, Beam Road and repair work at the State Route 83 and Mills Road roundabout.
Engineering said a kickoff meeting with the awarded contractor is scheduled for the following day and that additional details will be provided in the August newsletter. The engineering report also noted targeted crack sealing on main thoroughfares and resurfacing work (Lou Anne, Caroline and Monica resurfacing) with catch‑basin adjustments to begin in the coming weeks; Skadeler Construction is the expected contractor for some resurfacing work.
On stormwater, the quarterly Board of Drainage and Flood Control will meet July 22 to discuss stormwater capital projects including the Mills Creek Flood Control Basin and the State Route 83 culvert replacement over Fillon Ditch; engineering staff signaled proposed stormwater ordinance changes are under development and will be presented to board members and then council for consideration.
No formal votes were recorded on these project updates during the July 21 council meeting; the report provided timing and contractor expectations and asked council to consider a separate traffic‑striping ordinance later in the agenda.
