Mayor Stimpson announced on July 22 that the city has launched a new 311 smartphone application and an online public portal designed to improve how residents submit and track service requests.
“We have launched a new 3 1 1 app this past weekend,” Mayor Stimpson said. The mayor said the prior app had performance problems and the new portal and apps will allow residents to upload photos, track requests and view other citizens— requests.
City staff demonstrated QR codes and said the app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and that the public portal is at cityofmobile.org/services/311. The mayor asked residents to delete the old application and install the new one; staff noted 311 remains available by phone during business hours for those who prefer to call.
The city said the upgrade aims to improve response routing to departments and to produce a better user experience. No new funding appropriation for the app was announced; staff described the change as an administrative upgrade to existing 311 services.
