Council approves termination of long-standing water-tank maintenance agreement; staff to seek new contractor

The council then separately moved to approve item K — resolution No. 7589, terminating the water tank agreement between the city and Utility Service Company, Inc. Council discussion noted the termination is the first step; city staff said they intend to bring a proposed new contract with a different company back to the council “probably in the next two weeks.”
City staff clarified that the existing agreement covers water tower maintenance and that the city has had the contract with Utility Service Company for roughly 12–13 years. No new contract was approved at the meeting; council members voted to terminate the current contract so staff can negotiate a replacement.
