San Angelo ISD trustees approved on Aug. 4 the award of bid 25‑009 for a cafeteria and classroom addition at Crockett Elementary to Lee Lewis Construction for $10,328,500. The project will add approximately 21,000 square feet, eight classrooms, new restrooms and a cafeteria with kitchen and stage, plus parking and site work. Facilities staff said architects from Park Hill prepared the RFP and reviewed bids; two qualified general contractors responded and Lee Lewis scored highest on evaluation criteria while submitting the lower price. The administration recommended award after reference checks and subcontractor list reviews. Board members noted Lee Lewis previously completed McGill work for the district and approved the contract unanimously. Staff said construction and phasing details would be coordinated with the campus and project schedule will be shared with the board and community.
