The city reported progress on its lead water‑service lateral replacement program at the July 21 council meeting, confirming numbers for work completed under the 2024 contract and noting an upcoming 2025 contract for further replacements.
Public Works staff said the 2024 contract with Mammoth Construction covered public‑side work primarily under pavement and included: 279 public‑side water service laterals addressed, 179 public‑side sanitary laterals replaced while services were replaced, 120 private‑side water services addressed, and 41 private‑side private sanitary laterals replaced. Officials told council the contractor awarded the 2025 contract will begin work by mid‑August to replace up to 200 services on the East Side.
Staff said they will continue to update totals and that the work is essential for water and sewer infrastructure. Council members were briefed on traffic and access impacts in neighborhoods where crews are operating.
