On June 2 representatives of the district's classified and certified employee unions updated the board on bargaining progress and urged continued collaboration.
Kirsty Stackman, OSEA president‑elect and a roving paraeducator, said bargaining that day produced tentative agreement on four articles affecting teaching assistants and that negotiators had carried more than seven articles across the table. She said one of the significant gains was a safety‑related article establishing clearer boundaries to protect classified staff and students. Stackman encouraged community and classified‑staff attendance at upcoming bargaining sessions and said next meetings are scheduled for June 18 (Tumwater Middle School), June 20 and June 23 (evening Zoom sessions).
Lindsay Ray, president of the Beaverton Education Association (BEA), congratulated board winners and thanked classified colleagues. Ray said the BEA expects complaints to be handled with fairness and transparency; she urged the board to be judicious in using public resources for outside investigations while seeking processes that are thorough and impartial.
Both union leaders framed bargaining as active and ongoing; Stackman described a goal of reaching tentative agreements in time for ratification and board consideration in July.
