Hunt County proclaims August 3 National Health Center Week; Carevide presents county patient statistics

Hunt County Commissioners Court on Tuesday proclaimed August 3, 2025, as National Health Center Week in Hunt County and heard a presentation from Carevide, a community health center serving the region.
Michael Glass, deputy CEO and chief financial officer of Carevide, told the court his organization has a 47-year history serving medically underserved residents across a six-county service area in Northeast Texas. He said Carevide served over 28,000 patients in 2024 and that “approximately half of those patients are actually in Hunt County.”
Glass described community health centers as an essential source of primary and preventive care in rural communities and noted that they provide integrated services including oral health, vision, behavioral health and pharmacy services. The proclamation text, read aloud by the judge, recognized the 60-year legacy of community health centers and encouraged residents to visit their local health centers during the observance.
The court approved the proclamation by voice vote and invited a photograph following the signing.
No county financial commitment accompanied the proclamation; it was an official recognition of the national observance and local role of community health centers.
