The superintendent presented a 100‑day entry plan that prioritizes student learning, a board–superintendent partnership, leadership development, operational efficiency and community engagement. She said July–September will be a listening and observation phase that includes school visits, meetings with board members and administrators, and community outreach; October–December will include reporting observations, identifying priorities and beginning strategic-planning work with staff and external partners. The superintendent told the board she will interview stakeholders, review student achievement and operational documents, and analyze staffing and budget processes to identify strengths and obstacles. The superintendent proposed five guiding questions for stakeholders: biggest strengths of Lynchburg City Schools, the district’s current challenges, ideas to strengthen the district, how individuals can support student learning, and how the broader community affects schools. She asked board members to meet individually with her and said she will present findings and a proposed strategic-planning process to the board and committees in the fall. Board members welcomed the outreach and suggested the superintendent draw on successful models from similar districts during strategic planning.
