The Oakley City Council unanimously approved three community sponsorships at its April 7 meeting, allocating $1,500 to Tri County Cruisers, $1,000 to the Main Street Arts Council and $500 to the Logan County Health Care Foundation’s golf tournament.
Tri County Cruisers club president Alan Suter described the car show’s costs — radio ads, postage, trophies, T-shirts and scholarships — and said the event budget is about $10,000. The council approved a $1,500 donation to the club to be paid from the city’s transient guest tax tourism events fund. Russ moved the motion; Lisa seconded; the vote was unanimous.
Lisa moved and Russ seconded the council’s $1,000 sponsorship for the Main Street Arts Council’s Oakley production of Disney’s Dare to Dream, to be paid from the convention and tourism fund. The council approved the request unanimously.
Council approved a $500 donation to the Logan County Health Care Foundation’s annual golf tournament, also to be paid from the convention and tourism fund; Russ moved and Steve seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Council members and presenters discussed logistics for Tri County Cruisers’ street closure and barriers; Brock (city staff) and the police chief agreed to coordinate barricades and street-use details with the club.
