Dave Lomison, representing the Center County transportation provider, reported to council that in the first 13 service days of July the new borough‑sponsored transportation service scheduled 64 trips, averaging about five trips per day. Lomison said many trips appear to be work related and included downtown State College and destinations near the mall. Lomison told council that the borough had spent part of its allotted funding through July 18; he said most trips fell under the program’s second mileage tier and that the borough’s out‑of‑pocket cost for those trips was $19.50 per trip. He said he would provide a full monthly report and a trip‑purpose breakdown at the next meeting so the borough could better understand demand and costs. Council thanked Lomison for the update; staff and the committee said they will continue to track usage and costs closely and planned a committee meeting to review the regional long‑range transportation plan with an eye to public‑transportation sections.
