Bellefonte Borough Council on Tuesday agreed to add a resolution to the agenda and approved a grant application to the Commonwealth Finance Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to install a ramp and a portable lift at the borough train station. The council voted to approve the resolution after staff said the grant application deadline is Aug. 1. The matter was introduced by borough staff, who told council the grant would fund “a ramp at the train station” and a portable lift to increase accessibility. Council members moved and seconded the measure and then approved it by roll call; all members present voted yes. The resolution is identified in the meeting as “resolution number 7212020Five‑one.” Staff said the application must be submitted by Aug. 1 or the program will reopen in March. Council directed staff to finalize and submit the application so the borough can pursue the award. There was no public comment and no amendment proposed before the vote. The borough clerk and administrative staff will carry out the application and any follow‑up reporting required by the Commonwealth Finance Authority if the grant is awarded. The approval does not yet obligate the borough to a specific contractor or construction schedule; those details were not discussed in the meeting.
