County staff updated commissioners on human-resources operations, saying the contracted HRM firm has been providing interim HR services and that the county intends to hire a permanent HR director within the coming month.
Kendall, a county staff member, told commissioners, “we do not intend for HRM to stay around forever,” and said HRM is reviewing HR director applications and will rank candidates and assist with selection. Kendall said HRM consultant Renee Ramsey visits Montgomery weekly and that the county will reduce reliance on HRM gradually as an in-house director assumes responsibilities.
Staff said HRM has helped with policy and hiring gaps and that the plan is to have a chosen candidate and to make an offer within about a month; once an HR director is onboard, HRM’s role will decrease and eventually end. Commissioners expressed approval and asked for continued updates on the hiring timeline.
