Following the utility director’s retirement, the board approved a seasonal, part-time position to rehire the director temporarily through the end of the year to transfer duties and knowledge; staff said funds are available and accounts will be reconciled at the end of Q3.
The Board of Works on July 1 adopted resolution 25-R-14 to create a seasonal, part-time utility position and associated pay grade to temporarily rehire the city’s recently retired utility director through the end of the year.
Tory Irwin of Public Works told the board the director’s last day was June 30 and staff recommended bringing that person back in a temporary role to transfer duties and institutional knowledge. Irwin said the utility has experienced staffing changes and that administration will reconcile salary accounts at the end of third quarter to ensure funds are appropriately allocated.
Board members asked whether additional appropriations were required; staff replied they have the money and will make any end-of-year adjustments if needed. The resolution passed by voice vote with members present saying aye.
