The Elkhart Board of Public Works approved the lowest responsive and responsible bidders for chemical supplies under bid No. 2513 for the city’s wastewater treatment needs.
The board accepted staff’s recommendations and recorded the following award prices as read into the record: ferric chloride to PVS Technologies at $2.59 per gallon (ton containers); liquid chlorine in ton containers to Alexander Chemical Corporation at $1,799 per ton; 150‑pound cylinders of liquid chlorine to JCI Jones at $159 per cylinder; hydrofluorosilicic acid to Alexander Chemical Corporation at $2.61 per gallon; polyphosphate to Shannon Chemical Corporation at $8.17 per gallon; and sodium hypochlorite in 300‑gallon totes to Alexander Chemical Corporation at $2.899 per gallon.
Board members noted that small per‑gallon differences matter over large quantities. The board approved the awards by voice vote; staff did not record any dissent.
Staff said the awards are based on the amounts and vendors listed in the memo and that purchases will proceed under the usual procurement and delivery schedules for the wastewater utility.
