City OKs $13,200 contract to produce business toolkit website and resource guide

The Board of Public Works approved a $13,200 agreement July 9 with Momentum Marketing Consultants to develop a business toolkit website landing page and a printed resource guide intended to help entrepreneurs start, manage and grow local businesses.
Joshua Hoefer, assistant director of economic development, said the toolkit is the product of a 2023–24 community process that involved more than 30 economic-support organizations and several hundred community members. The website and resource design will provide locally focused guidance and be usable by the development corporation and the chamber, Hoefer said. "This is the encapsulation and design of that website for the toolkit and also the correlated, resource design, resource book design," he said.
Hoefer said staff solicited five firms, interviewed two, and the team selected Momentum. He said the $13,200 will come from the department’s professional services budget. Hoefer and other board members clarified that the site is expected to be built on WordPress, that staff will maintain content, and that ongoing costs are limited to hosting, which staff will budget. Hoefer said hosting costs for the first year would not be an issue and that any additional ongoing costs would be brought back to the board if needed.
A board member offered personal support for Momentum based on prior experience. The motion to approve the contract was approved by voice vote.
