Superintendent reports park repairs, storm cleanup and July 4 events
Summary

Ashley, parks superintendent, gave the parks report and summarized maintenance, repairs and recent events.
“We had a really good turnout this year,” Ashley said of the July 4 celebration, and noted multiple vendors and events. She reported that Eli has been cleaning clogged gutters and that the stairs on the gazebo next to the pond “have been replaced.” She said staff will repaint the gazebo and that mulch was placed around the pickleball courts.
Ashley described storm cleanup after a recent storm that took down a power line and a tree in the park; staff spent several days clearing debris. Regarding a tree that fell onto a neighbor’s yard, Ashley said the neighbor allowed staff to wait until cooler weather and that park staff removed the tree on a recent Wednesday. The pond was restocked by Clear Creek Fishery, which donated fish ahead of a July 4 fishing contest that had 53 participants.
Ashley also reported a long-standing drainage issue: a missing grate over a drain hole had been replaced with a different cover that caused pond flooding. Staff drained some water, replaced the grate and restored flow. The superintendent said staff will continue routine shelter maintenance and complete painting of open shelter houses in July.
Council or meeting participants thanked staff for the July 4 work. One participant said the day “was really a banner day for our community” and complimented staff for making the city look good.
