The mayor presented a proclamation declaring Sept. 17 through Sept. 23, 2025, as Constitution Week in the City of Tucumcari and said the city seal would be affixed in August 2025.
A representative read the proclamation text, referencing Public Law No. 915 as the federal designation for Constitution Week, and the mayor indicated he would cause the city seal to be affixed. After the proclamation reading, members of the Tuft and Care Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution spoke briefly about the organization’s educational and patriotic work and offered Constitution booklets to the public.
Susan Taylor said DAR’s goals are historical, educational and patriotic and noted the group’s ongoing work in public education; Rita Reid added that DAR had been preparing for the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026. “DAR has been preparing for America 250 for 5 years already,” Reid said.
Ending: The commission accepted the proclamation reading and DAR speakers provided informational booklets for public pickup at the meeting.
