Commission gives staff direction to pursue Resource Wise water-meter option, requests final pricing and tariff review

Vendor representatives discussed manufacturing locations, tariff exposure for imported components and the differences among available meter solutions. Resource Wise representatives said they’d absorbed some tariff impacts and that further tariff changes were possible; they said they would negotiate with manufacturers and could attempt to lock pricing if an order were submitted quickly.
Commission discussion emphasized the need to lock tariffs where possible and to protect the city from sudden tariff increases on larger meters. Commissioners asked staff to authorize Resource Wise to continue negotiations, to obtain a firm quote and to work with finance and IT on implementation, software and sequencing. One commissioner moved to proceed with direction to staff and the motion was seconded; commissioners asked that the final procurement and contract be returned for formal approval.
No final purchase contract was executed at the meeting; staff will circulate vendor pricing and a recommended procurement path for the commission’s formal vote.
