The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission unanimously adopted a revision to its program standard at its Sept. 16, 2025, public meeting, finalizing changes the agency says align its oversight processes with recent Federal Transit Administration rules and agency experience.
The commission voted 5-0 to adopt “resolution R-2025 adopting program standard revision 8,” and said the revised document will have an effective date of Oct. 1, 2025.
The revision bundle incorporates changes the WMSC staff said were required by new FTA regulations and by the commission’s year‑long review process; it also responds in part to 91 comments filed by MetroRail and others.
